Elder General Assistance Payment(s)
My Relative,
On behalf of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska, I bring you greetings in all ways good.
On December 7th, 2021, the Ponca Tribal Council created the Elder General Assistance Program in an effort to provide qualified Ponca Elders with a financial benefit to assist them with routine expenses, increase their self-sufficiency and promote the general welfare of the Tribe, by providing two (2) payments per year, each in the amount of $500.00.
To be eligible to receive benefits under the Elder General Assistance Program a person must be both:
- An active enrolled member of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska; and
- Fifty-five (55) years of age or older by May 1st and November 1st of each year’s payment distribution periods (May 1st – May 15th, and November 1st – November 15th).
Ponca Elders meeting the above requirements are eligible regardless of residence or domicile.
As a Ponca Elder that meets these requirements, your payment of $500 is enclosed.
Please note: this payment is exempt from U.S. Federal income taxes and the Tribe will not report it on a 1099.
The Ponca Tribal Council understands elders are typically on a fixed, limited income. We hope this cash assistance helps meet the essential needs of our Ponca Elders.

This Program does not establish any vested right or entitlement to receive benefits or create any property interest in receiving benefits. The Ponca Tribal Council may suspend, terminate, or discontinue this Program, including benefits provided under it, at any time in its sole discretion and for any reason or no reason at all.
