This is to remind our K-12 students nationwide that you have until July 31, 2023, to participate in this program for the 2022-23 school year. These incentives are only available to enrolled members of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska. Areas of participation include the following:
- Attendance: If you have 5.49 days or less of absenteeism, you are eligible for a monetary incentive.
- Art Contest: Projects do not need to be ones from school and are judged based on the student’s grade level.
- Essay/Poetry Contest: Again, projects do not need to be school projects.
- Senior Incentive: All Class of 2023 seniors are eligible for this incentive.
- Student of the Month/Year: Also, again, the student does not need to have been recognized at school.
Any applications received after July 31, 2023, will be considered for the coming school year; and any high school graduates will have missed the deadline to be considered for the Senior Incentives. Incentives include the following:
- Attendance: $100.00, $50.00, or $25.00 depending on the number of absences.
- Art Contest: First place: $100.00; Second place: $50.00; Third place: $25.00.
- Essay/Poetry Contest: Same as Art Contest.
- Senior Incentive: $500.00.
- Student of the Month/Year: $100.00 for the winner (no second or third-place winners)
To apply for any of the listed incentives above, please fill out the Youth Incentive Program application, which is available here or by request through the Education Department. Also, see the YIP Cover Letter for further information.
To receive the Attendance Incentive, please submit the following: (1) a completed YIP application, which is available here or by request through the Education Department, (2) proof of attendance from your school, (generally, this is a copy of the student’s year-end report card showing attendance), and proof of Tribal enrollment.
