Niobrara Office Closed 12/15/22

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska Headquarters office in Niobrara is closed due to weather conditions.

Our Risk and Safety Specialist Todd Schimelfenig has provided more in-depth weather conditions by SDA county:

Knox: Winter Weather Advisory until 6 pm today. Snow and blowing snow, winds gusting to 45-50 mph, new snow accumulations of 1-3 inches. Snow-covered roads south to Creighton and east to Crofton and Bloomfield, and west to Verdell and O’Neil.

Use extra caution traveling, due to slippery road conditions and reduced visibility in places. Parts of travel northwest and west are not advised due to blizzard conditions. Areas west are currently under a Winter Storm Warning.

Madison: Winter Weather Advisory until 6 pm today. Snow and blowing snow, 1-2 inches of new snow accumulation, snow expected to persist through today. Very windy with wind gusts to 45 mph. Possible slippery road conditions, roads partially ice covered. Exercise extra caution while traveling.

Woodbury: Snow, blowing snow, windy conditions, 1-2 inches of snow accumulation. Snow is expected to persist through today, very windy with wind gusts to 45 mph. Sioux City has declared a snow emergency which is in effect to clear streets of vehicles for plows to run. Exercise extra caution while driving.

Wind warnings were issued for counties between Omaha and Norfolk.

Douglas: Windy, possible snow today. Exercise caution while driving.

Lancaster: Windy and cold.

Much colder temperatures are expected and expected to persist through Christmas.
