Ponca Cemetery Cleanup

Hosted by the Culture Department
May 18 | 10 am-2 pm
Members are welcome to come to the Ponca Cemetery for a day to tend and honor the resting places of their loved ones. The day will include a small prayer ceremony at 10 am. Lunch will be provided by the Elders Committee.
Meet at Ponca community building for instruction. We will have trash bags for cleanup. If bringing your own maintenance tools, such as shovels, shears, or small gardening shovels, please label them. Please wear tennis shoes or closed-toe shoes, as there are small cactus and sandburs at the cemetery. If children are coming, please be mindful as this is a sacred place.
THPO will be on site with a cemetery map. If you know where any loved ones or ancestors are buried, THPO is respectfully requesting information. We will be providing flowers, handkerchiefs, fruit, veteran flags, etc. for the graves. Those who are unable to participate physically are still encouraged to come and visit.
Event is subject to change in the event of inclement weather.
For questions, please contact Richard Wrigh Jr., Culture Director, at 402.371.8834 ext. 2037 or email [email protected] or Theresa Foley, THPO, at 402.315.2760 or email [email protected].

The event is finished.
