What happened to our ancestors has the power to affect our lives and how we experience living. For some of us, the trauma and drama we experience today as Native Americans can be traced back to one of the original acts of aggression towards Native Americans, Indian Boarding Schools. The Domestic Violence Program is here to help survivors who have experienced violence within their lifetimes.

The Domestic Violence Program will be hosting a Wiping of the Tears ceremony for Indian Boarding School survivors and/or their descendants at the Ponca Restoration Powwow. Please join us as we offer ceremony to those who seek healing from Indian Boarding School trauma.

Dr. Aitkens will present information on the causes, signs, and prevention of bottle mouth syndrome and tooth decay, offering practical tips to make brushing fun and routine, along with free fluoride treatments for the whole family, safe for children and prenatal mothers.

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, community members are invited to join us at their local PTN office for a special pledge event, where we will come together as a community to take a stand against domestic violence. By adding your name to a pledge form, you’re making a personal commitment to raise awareness, speak out against domestic violence, and take action to support victims and survivors. Individuals who complete their pledge form with DV staff will receive a t-shirt.

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Domestic Violence Program is hosting Domestic Violence 101 presentations at all office sites. We invite community members to join us for a
presentation on this issue and a conversation of resiliency when it comes to experiencing DV.

Following the presentation, DV staff will host Ribbons of Resiliency, a craft time where participants can create their own ribbon hoodie. Spots are limited, so please RSVP!
