TITLE 1 – GENERAL PROVISIONS

The Ponca Tribal Council will be proposing significant amendments to Title I General Provisions of the Law and Order Code. The majority of Title I will be amended. The revisions are being considered to enhance the sovereignty of the Ponca Tribe.
Title I General Provisions will be significantly revised. The revisions being considered include, but are not limited to the following:
- Adding a chapter on Boards and Commissions
- Changing the Terms of Pro Tempore Judges from 1 year to 2 years
- Adding Juneteenth as a holiday
- Adding Perjury to the Chapter on Contempt
- Enhancing the chapter on Sovereignty and Immunity
- Adding a chapter on Tribal Contracts
- Adding to the chapter regarding Conduct on Tribal Property
