LAW AND ORDER CODE REVISION DISCUSSION – TITLE 2

LAW AND ORDER CODE REVISION
Discussion on August 17, 2026, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
During Tribal Council Meeting

Notice: All Tribal Members

The Ponca Tribal Council will be reviewing proposed revisions to Title 2 of the Law and Order Code. The revisions are being considered because the Law & Justice Committee wants to ensure that the numbering of the Code is uniform throughout the Code.

The revisions to Title 2 that are being considered include but are not limited to the following:

  • Changing the format from Rules to Sections to conform to the Code
  • Added a Section on Waiver of Service, Sealing and Unsealing Court Records, and Burdens of Proof; Standards of Review, Standard of Review, and Certifications of Question of Law
  • Requires legal counsel to file a notice of appearance or file a pleading or motion
  • Expanded the section on Motions and Stay or Injunction Pending Appeal

There will be a discussion by Tribal Council that is open for public comment on August 17, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as it may be heard.
